“Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” is a Level 3A/3B hymn arrangement of the traditional spiritual. Measures 1–4 introduce the opening refrain. The right hand carries the melody for “Swing low, sweet chariot,” while the left hand supports with simple held intervals. The music begins at mezzo-piano, giving the opening a calm and soulful character.
Measures 5–8 continue the refrain with “Comin’ for to carry me home.” The right hand becomes more rhythmic, and the left hand adds low supporting notes and short moving figures underneath. The phrase grows toward mezzo-forte before the refrain returns.
